Hello to Daniel’s Care Van Supporters –
We know the outbreak of COVID-19 presents special challenges for everyone in our community, and we just wanted to take a minute to share our perspective. We serve the most vulnerable of populations, with nearly all our brave riders in extremely fragile and immuno-compromised health. We are committed to providing clean and safe transportation for our riders as long as we are safely able to do so.
To that end, we are following CDC guidelines to practice social distancing and thorough hand-washing. We’ve always cleaned and sanitized our vehicle obsessively, and we’ll now put that effort into overdrive. We expect that some of our off-treatment kiddos will have their appointments postponed. At the same time, we also have many on-treatment kiddos, including a new one last week, who must follow strict protocols and will continue to depend on our service.
As you adjust to the changes in your life right now, we ask that you please keep our riders and their families – as well as all children fighting cancer – in your thoughts. Be mindful of their amplified need for supplies such as disinfectants, hand sanitizers, soap, detergent, paper products, and food. Take the CDC guidelines seriously – not just for your own health, but for the health of everyone around you. The plight of people in vulnerable populations is challenging enough as it is – let’s all do what we can to not increase the burden they already carry.
Stay safe out there everyone, and as always, thank you for your support.
