September was full of reminders of why we do what we do. #TransportingTheBrave is such a rewarding mission, and we never lose sight of that. In September we drove 1856 miles, including several with a new brave kiddo who is only 4 months old. Driving a new family is always a mix of emotions. We’re grateful we can help them, but we’re also heartbroken to see another family forced into the world of childhood cancer. Mid-month, our founder and president, Jeri Jones, was honored with the 7 Everyday Heroes Award and that exposure has helped us gain new support near and far. September 23rd was the 8th birthday of our inspiration, Daniel the Brave. Every mile we drive honors Daniel.
September was also Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. To us, every month is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. The struggles and the suffering of families of children with cancer don’t end on September 30th. The funding injustice that halters pediatric cancer research doesn’t end on September 30th. To us, kids fighting cancer is part of our everyday life, no matter the month or the ribbon color. We’ll always do what we can to advocate for all children with cancer. It’s a huge part of who we are. While we may not be able to change the world overnight with that advocacy, we do know we can make a difference right here in our own community with every ride we give. You can help, too – sponsor a ride or, if that’s not possible, share our story with others. Thank you for helping us continue to pursue our mission!
