Jeri was recently honored by Channel 2 News with their “Connecting to Colorado” award. We want to thank everyone involved in the story for capturing our mission — and our inspiration — so well. Click here to watch the video and read the story. [Read more…]
We’ve always known we have the best supporters, and last month proved that even more! During this month of Thanksgiving, we are tremendously grateful for all of you who continue to keep us on the road. We’re also very grateful for the families we’re honored to serve, like little J pictured here. She is now 1.5 years old and has been riding with DCV since she was 5 months old. She is doing well in her treatments and we love spending Fridays with her and her mom. Please keep her and all our brave riders in your thoughts. Last month we drove 550 miles with the continued help from our volunteer drivers. View our complete update below.
Happy fall! We’re looking forward to a new season of helping brave kiddos get to their life-saving appointments. Our founder, Jeri, returned to Transporting the Brave last month, and could not have been happier to see the smiles on the faces of the brave kiddos she had missed so much during her recovery. We are so grateful to our volunteer drivers, as well as our many donors, who continue to keep us on the road. Thank you!
From Our Founder
I want to thank everyone for all the kind words of support after my breast cancer diagnosis. I had a unilateral mastectomy last month, and I’m still healing. I’m not yet able to drive long distances, and I miss our brave kiddos very much! I am so grateful for the volunteer drivers who have kept us on the road and continue to do so until I’m able to return to my passion of Transporting the Brave. Last month, we drove 677 miles, with most of those covered by volunteers. Thank you again to everyone who has helped transport kids or offered support in this last month. ~ Jeri [Read more…]
First, we want to thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer driver with Daniel’s Care Van. Our brave riders and their families depend on us to get to their life-saving appointments, and it’s an honor for us to serve each and every one of them.
Second, thank you for your support of our founder, Jeri Jones, as she faces her own treatment for breast cancer. Her surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, August 15. Although we don’t know exactly what to expect in terms of recovery, right now we’re trying to get coverage for kiddos from August 7th through September 1st.
That’s where you come in! Sometimes, we know our riders’ appointments ahead of time, and sometimes we don’t. Because the business of treatment for our brave kiddos can be very unpredictable, we’re setting up an “on call” system for our team of volunteer drivers. We do not drive kids every day, but to support our mission, we need to be prepared to drive kids every day. To that end, we’re looking to you all to sign up for full days where you will be the designated on-call driver.
