Here at Daniel’s Care Van, we’re quickly approaching one full year of #TransportingTheBrave. In that time, we’ve met many brave kiddos who remind us every day why we do what we do. We never charge families for the transportation we provide. Instead, we’re paid with the smiles and laughs of the children we serve. We see the gratitude in their parents’ eyes, knowing that when Daniel’s Care Van pulls up, they have one less thing to worry about as they navigate through the nightmare they’re in. After a difficult day of treatment and during a long ride home last month, we noticed both child and mom napping in our back seat. That was the best payment ever, knowing we offered some peace to their challenging day. [Read more…]
As we watch the snow come down here in Denver today, we want to take a minute to take a look back at some of our highlights from January. Last month, we Transported the Brave a total of 1153 miles. This brings us to a total of over 9,100 miles since we started back in April! Keep an eye out in near future to help us celebrate our 10,000th mile!
Thank you donors!
Closing out our books for 2015 showed us the tremendous amount of love our supporters have shown us since we started on this mission of #TransportingTheBrave. Our goals for 2016 include doubling if not tripling the amount of children we transport and families we help. We know we can do this with the help of all of you! [Read more…]
As we ring in the new year here at Daniel’s Care Van, we are feeling the love of our supporters as well as the families and hospitals we serve. When we asked for donations on Colorado Gives Day and to meet a matching gift goal, our supporters responded with kindness and generosity. When we asked for items on our Amazon Wish List, people filled those requests without hesitation. When we delivered Daniel’s Sparkly Lights to the children’s cancer centers we serve, we were met with open arms and true holiday spirit. When we picked up one of our kiddos and he couldn’t wait to show us his Christmas gifts, we cherished his joy and gratitude. And, when we lost one of our own to the evil that is childhood cancer, our followers showed their love and support once again. The road of #TransportingTheBrave is a rewarding one, for sure, but heartbreaking, too. We understand that this is a reality of childhood cancer. While we wish we could change that, we know that the best we can do is to ease the burden faced by these families, one ride at a time. Here are some highlights from December: [Read more…]
Starbucks for you and a few friends. Popcorn and drinks for two at the movies. A nice bottle of wine (or two). Sure, there’s a lot you can enjoy for only $25. Today, on #GivingTuesday, you could also take that $25 and put it toward something that will really go far – a tank of gas to help us pursue our mission of #TransportingTheBrave. At Daniel’s Care Van, we are quite literally fueled by donations from our supporters. From single donations to generous recurring donors to strategic partners from the business community, every dollar we raise contributes to helping us transport children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses to their outpatient appointments. Please visit our How to Help page to see how you can make a difference to the kiddos we drive. [Read more…]
In October, we had the honor of meeting a few new kiddos in addition to our regular passengers. One of our highlights this month was when one of regular passengers got to meet Spider Man at the hospital. Seeing this little man full of joy was beyond sweet. We’re not just about giving a ride to treatment, we’re about taking away some of the stress families of kids with cancer face so they can enjoy these types of moments that many of take for granted. This day was a great reminder that #TransportingTheBrave is best job in the world! [Read more…]
